Daylight showed the full, devastating effect of the blaze that ripped through a bungalow at an elderly people's warden-controlled complex in Trowbridge last night.
It started at around 5.15pm in Number 2, Carders Corner, off Weavers Drive, the home of the warden who looks after the sheltered, terraced bungalows. He and his wife were out at the time, and sadly their dog perished.
The blaze spread to Number 4 adjoining, and there is water damage from the effort to quell the flames in Number 6. A fire crew from Trowbridge remain at the scene this morning, helping the fire investigation officer and helping to clear the debris.
Neighbours are rallying around the warden and his wife, who were too distressed to comment.
