The spirit of the community shone out in Westbury tonight as hundreds turned out for the switching on of the Christmas lights.
Mayor David Windess was delighted saying: “It’s very well attended as always. The community really get behind the switch on.”
Town crier Sean Price was equally enthusiastic. He said: “It’s been absolutely fantastic. It’s been the best day as there’s so much community spirit around the town.
“What was so special was the magic wristbands that came on as the lights were switched on.”
Helping switch on the lights were the winners of the town’s Christmas card competition and fancy dress parade.
Overall winner Rhianna Marie Donnett, aged three, flicked the switch and the seal was set on a festive evening as Santa came through the High Street on his sleigh.
