Donations are starting to roll in for the Trow-bridge Salvation Army Toy Appeal as more companies join the campaign.
Sainsbury’s in Melk-sham set up its appeal trolley this week and has already seen games and toys donated, which will go to families in need this Christmas.
Store manager Mark Ogborne said: “Customers are very generous, which is heartwarming, especially as times are hard for people. The customers do a very good job. In a big company it is easy to forget the local community, but Sainsbury’s focuses on that.
“Customers can bring toys in, or they can buy them from our shelves and put them straight into the collection trolley.”
Donations can be toys, games and books for girls and boys aged up to 16, but must be new. Financial donations are also welcome.
Once again the Wiltshire Times has teamed up with The Salvation Army for the appeal and the drop-off in our reception in Duke Street, Trowbridge has seen a steady stream of donations in the past two weeks.
Other drop-off points include Sainsbury’s in Bradford on Avon, Tesco Extra in County Way, Trowbridge, and the Salvation Army in Castle Street, Trowbridge.
Salvation Army major Kelvin Lang is organising the appeal this year and said: “It has picked up this week with more drop-off points opening. We have had several donations and a financial donation and hope people will continue to be generous.”
