Westbury Town Council will be hosting an extensive programme for this year’s Christmas street events day and lights switch-on on Saturday.
Based atound the High Street, Town Centre and Market Place, the events will run from 10am to 9pm and include music, street entertainers, fairground rides, Punch and Judy and market stalls.
The lights switch-on will follow from 5.30pm to 6.30pm in the High Street, with Father Christmas also expected to be in attendance.
There will also be a hog roast, candy floss, hot drinks, mince pies, mulled wine and much, much more to keep the whole family entertained.
Last year, torrential rain forced the council to postpone the street events day and lights switch-on by a week, which resulted in some of the events being cancelled.
Councillor Sue Ezra, who chairs the council’s events working group, said: “Hopefully, the weather will better for us this year, after the appalling conditions we had last year.
“We have got a lot going on and during the day we have all the usual stalls, as well as entertainment such as Punch and Judy for the kids.
“The prizes for the fancy dress competition and the best Christmas card will also be given out before the lights switch- on.
“We are hoping there will be a good turnout for the festivities.
“After the light switch-on, the fairground rides and stalls will still be going on in the Market Place, so there will be plenty to do throughout the day.”
Residents and visitors will also be able take advantage of free parking at all of Westbury’s pay-and-display car parks for the whole day.
