Proposals for a tax on Wiltshire’s largest supermarkets which could be used to pay for town centre car parking cuts are being considered by Wiltshire Council.
The motion could see some supermarkets and large out of town stores paying a levy of 8.5 per cent on the rateable value of their sites – if accepted. And during Tuesday’s Wiltshire Council meeting, at County Hall members agreed that the matter should be investigated by their Overview and Scrutiny Management Committee.
