A Semington garage has offered a cash reward after a rare set of vintage wheels and an irreplaceable document index were stolen last week.
The items were taken from Marcos Heritage Spares at Littleton Green on Friday, after thieves broke in in the early hours.
Two men from Westbury were arrested on suspicion of burglary in Yarnbrook around 1.50am and have been released on bail, but none of the stolen items have yet been recovered.
Emily MacMath, office manager at the garage, said: “They took a few hand tools, but more importantly a set of Dymag magnesium race wheels, which are rare alloys from a custom car, and an old-fashioned heavy filing cabinet which had all the old index cards, which are really important for all our information.
“It looks a bit like a safe, so when they realise what it is it’ll probably be dumped.”
The garage has offered a £100 reward to anyone who can provide information which leads to the return of the wheels or the index.
Miss MacMath said: “It looks like they went through the old sliding glass doors into the office, and kicked their way through.
“We are quite isolated here, we get broken into every couple of years.
“I’ve emailed all the local scrapyards asking people to look out for the wheels. They’re no longer in production, so are very rare.
“The cabinet contains parts information for the early wooden-chassis cars, so is really important for our historical records but of no value to anyone else.”
Anyone with information should call the Melksham Neighbourhood Policing Team on 101.
