Interesting statement by someone a few weeks ago, that the last cinema closed on March 20, 1971, in Trowbridge.

That was the day I was born and, sadly, I can remember my last film ever at Castle Place leisure centre and it was Burt Reynolds in Smokey and the Bandit in, perhaps, 1977.

So Trowbridge has got a great cinema back and it is very impressive. And with new 3D technology, we must watch films there again.

Trowbridge needs to make this cinema last and needs to tackle the problems in the park to safeguard everyone.

The council got its way on the location and away with the eyesore of the Peter Black former site, but if they think they have won over the people of Trowbridge then they had better think again.

Trowbridge still needs greater improvements and the care of the elderly needs to be better addressed.

There are too many phone calls and forms to fill in. Doctors and hospitals need addressing and the whole social care package needs radical overhaul.

I lost my father, sadly, before the cinema was built. He fought hard as a Trowbridge councillor before I was born.

I will always miss him, but we have to improve and make everyone’s lives better, whatever race or religion. We are all humans and in this country we are all one.
