The tale of the Capulets’ and Montagues’ deadly feud and a pair of star-crossed lovers takes flight in this modern adaptation bursting with excitement and colour, brought to the satage from November 20-23 by the Athenaeum Limelight Players.
With inspiration from the 1996 film directed by Baz Luhrmann, the company have stamped their own style and direction on the production. The wardrobe is created around modern fashions and has lavish party costumes, and the scene is set against a vibrant urban backdrop with an eclectic soundtrack from Mozart, Hip Hop remixes, Bob Marley, The Prodigy and Jason Mraz piano solos, to the latest chart hits and more.
The cast age range is from 10 to 75, but they are predominantly aged 14 to 28, giving great depth to the production - never was a story of more woe than this of Juliet and her Romeo.
