Preparations are well in hand for Warminster’s Athenaeum Singers performance of Messiah by G F Handel on November 30. The work will be conducted by director of music Jessi Pywell, who took the singers through an all day workshop in October, pictured right, to tackle the finer points. An impressive array of young professionals is lined up for the solo parts.
Soprano soloist Charlotte Ashley received her early education in Warminster at the Minster Primary School. In 1996 she became a chorister in Salisbury Cathedral Girls Choir and went on to study at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She works as a soloist and as a member of professional ensembles, and is currently performing in a production of Richard ll for the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Counter tenor Roderick Morris is a recitalist who specialises in music of the baroque period, tenor soloist David Condry is also the director of music for several choirs and bass Rupert Reid is a former choral scholar of Kings College, Cambridge.
Accompaniment will be provided by a baroque orchestra with instruments true to the type which would have been used in Handel’s time. The performance is at 7pm in The Minster Church, Warminster.
