The founder of Warminster-based toy business Asobi unveiled the winners of the second Slow Toy Awards on October 24, with the event celebrating the latest traditional toy creations.

Thierry Bourret, who set up Asobi in Stephens Way, Warminster, in 2009, launched the Slow Toy Movement in 2011 to promote traditional, crafted toys over the battery-operated plastic toys that flood the market.

This year’s winners included entries from America and Germany.

The awards took place at Harrods’ Toy Kingdom, with the judges including life and style editor of The Guardian, Kate Carter, and children’s television presenter Angellica Bell.

Mr Bourret said: “I was blown away by the success of the 2012 awards and I wasn’t sure we would be able to entice the same interest again.

“It was my dream to have this level of appreciation for good quality, well-made toys that encourage traditional play.”
