Trowbridge student Miles Mantay was named electrical student of the year at the City of Bath College Celebrating Success Awards after overcoming his dyslexia to pass his NVQ course.
The 17-year-old, pictured, who lives in Green Lane with parents Ron and Jayne Mantay, completed Level Two courses in performing engineering operation and electrical installation studies at the college.
He came to the college last year, after being home schooled throughout most of his senior school career, achieving As in all three sciences and A*s in maths and IT in his GCSEs. The annual awards were at The Guildhall in Bath on October 24 and saw around 50 students from different courses being praised.
Mr Mantay, who has gained sub-contracting employment with Galliford Try, said: “I can’t thank my tutors enough, especially Gerald Craig, for the kindness and support they gave me.”
