Plans for Melksham’s long-awaited Community Campus are finally to be revealed to the public, after 18 months of development.

Details of the facility, which will see a new sports hall, library and swimming pool constructed on the existing Melksham House site, will be displayed for a week at a series of public roadshows, starting on November 18.

The plans will also travel around villages in the wider Melksham area in the mobile library.

The design of the campus has been overseen by the Shadow Communications Operations Board (SCOB), which is made up of representatives from the community and Wiltshire Council.

SCOB chairman Councillor Roy While said: “This impressive campus will offer something for many in our community, young and older, in addition to the sporting activities. Our town centre will benefit, too.”

Over the coming weeks, the design team will also be arranging to speak about the proposals with the groups that are currently based at the site, including Melksham Football Club and Melksham Rugby Club, which will be moving to Woolmoore Farm, and the weekly lunch club, which will temporarily move to the Assembly Hall.

The final planning application is expected to be submitted in December.
