The Hop on the Bus language bus was awarded £2,000 from the Co-operative Group’s community membership fund recently.
The project was launched by Trowbridge Learning Centre in collaboration with Trowbridge Library and Network for Languages Bath Spa to encourage primary school children to learn a second language.
As the world becomes more of a global village, being able to communicate in more than one language is a valuable skill to have.
Phases one and two of the project rolled out very successfully with more than 90 children from primary schools all over Trowbridge taking part and learning seven different languages.
The £2,000 will go into the Phase 3 initiative of seeking to establish language clubs in local schools and will support the Saturday morning language lessons in Chinese Mandarin, French, Spanish and German at Clarendon College in Trowbridge.
Language lessons for adults are also available and the admin team can be contacted on 07404588748 / 07522956996.
