A further national strike has been called by the Fire Brigades’ Union, which will affect the level of emergency response available from Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service.
A four hour walkout has been announced for 10am to 2pm on Wednesday November 13.
As with the three previous strikes, it is expected that 10 of the county’s 24 fire stations will be unavailable for the duration. ‘Resilience’ appliances will be sited in key locations to ensure that operational cover is maintained.
Chief Fire Officer Simon Routh-Jones said: “This is a national dispute between the FBU and the Government, but it is damaging individual fire and rescue services, and potentially putting communities at risk,.
"I can assure local people that we will be responding to 999 calls during this latest strike, but it may take us a little longer than usual to arrive. I would again urge everyone to take extra care around the home and when out on the roads.”
