A SALES executive at Platinum Vauxhall in Trowbridge, who served in the military for 25 years, will take on an endurance challenge of his own on Remembrance Day.

Richard Taylor, of West-bury Leigh, will cycle 305 miles after the two-minute silence on November 11, which is the equivalent distance from Ellesmere Port, where Vauxhalls are manufactured, to his dealership, via Vauxhall’s HQ in Luton.

He will be in the Trow-bridge showroom using a static bike to raise money for Dorothy House Hospice, Help For Heroes and The Royal Artillery Associa-tion, and aims to complete the challenge in 30 hours.

The 43-year-old, who was a sergeant major in the 7th Parachute Regiment Royal Horse Artillery and who served in Iraq three times as well as in Bosnia and Kosovo, said: “I like to do something every year to raise money for The Royal Artillery, to give something back.

“I also have some family links to Dorothy House and it is a great local charity.”

“I am a keen cyclist and qualified personal trainer and I came up with the endurance ride as I wanted to do something that was connected to Vauxhall.”

The sales executive will have rest breaks but will cycle through the night until Tuesday afternoon.

There will be a second bike for guest riders to give Mr Taylor encouragement and donate their money.
