CHILDREN at Melksham’s Queensway Chapel Nursery have learned the value of scrap, after they took delivery of a brand new play pod last week.
The pod, installed in the nursery’s garden, contains recycled items donated from the Wiltshire Scrapstore, and was funded by an £8,000 National Lottery grant.
Deputy manager Sharon Beal said: “It’s filled up with all types of resources to help them play. The Scrapstore come along each term and fill it up with items; it could be cardboard boxes, large tubes, computer keyboards, anything they can get their hands on, and the children just take out what they find to play with.
“It’s helped to encourage them to work together as a team; they have built castles, an office, and they were making a car this morning. It’s good for developing their imagination. We’ve had it for this week, and already they really, really love it.”
