Handcrafting Mexican flowers and re-creating traditional Nicaraguan dances kept 51 Wiltshire women on their toes at an international weekend.
Meeting at Maud Heath House in East Tytherton, ladies from Trowbridge, Chippenham, Devizes and Warminster embraced the internationally themed day by taking lessons from two Central American dancers and learning about the cultures of their nations.
The gathering saw the women from Wiltshire North and South Trefoil Guilds take part in workshops that delved into the community projects run by Girlguiding’s fourth World Centre in Mexico.
As the numbers of girls joining Girlguiding in the county grew, the Guild divided into two halves seven years ago. The annual gathering unites members from all over the county, giving recognition to good work former Guiders keep up.
Sue Coates, a former county chairwoman, said: “Dancing created great energy, enthusiasm and unity among the women who embraced the day’s creative streak and will hopefully take some ideas on to groups they help."
