Residents across Wiltshire have been left with no electricity this morning after a severe storm struck the south west.
Some properties in Bradford Leigh and Pewsey don’t have any electricity at current with Southern Electric working to get power back on. Electricty was also down in Hilperton but it is now operating again.
A spokesperson said: “We are still gathering information about the extent of the damage and don't have any information broken down to a local level as yet.
“Our priority is to restore power supplies as quickly and safely as possible, however conditions remain extremely challenging.”
The storm, which has been named St Jude’s, saw winds of over 80mph hitting the country and left 68,000 properties in the south west without electricity.
Wiltshire Police has received 75 reports of trees being blown over in the storm and they have been working with the council to reduce disruption for motorists.
A tree fell on a Citroen Zara driving along the B3105, Staverton, at 5.17am with neither driver or passenger suffering serious injuries.
A tree blocked Victoria Road, in Warminister, at 5.03am, and another was down in Copheap Lane, Warminster, at 5.20am with both now being cleared.
While, motorists moved a tree off Bradley Road, Trowbridge, after it fell at 6.08am.
Anyone affected by the storm and wishes to report an electricity fault can call Southern Electric on 0800 300 999.
