A teenage dancer from Trowbridge has created his own dance show to reflect the experiences his hometown has given him and the people he has met.

Kieran Mceleny, of Lower Court, who moved to Trowbridge 11 years ago from Reading, has worked on the project, Creation In Town, since March and is showcasing it at the Arc Theatre on Wednesday.

The 17-year-old, who attends the Youth Dance Academy in Swindon, has dressed in woman’s clothes for the past five years and came out as gay three years ago.

He said: “My time in Trowbridge has been up and down, but those times have made me strong.

“I want to thank people for the 11 years I have been in Trowbridge and the experiences it has given me.

“It is a very visual show with dance videos in the background. A lot of the movement created itself. I want people to take from it what they can.”

The narrative show will include Kieran and three dancers from his own company, Diamond Dance.

There will be a range of music, from classical to modern, and a range of dances, from ballet to contemporary.

He said: “I had heard about how people are treated after coming out and I thought I was going to get the same treatment, but people took it well.”

The dancer also created his first clothing collection for women this summer and has designed the costumes for the show.

Tickets for Wednesday’s performance at 7pm are on sale at the Arc Theatre and are priced £7.50, £6.50 for concessions or £15 on the door.
