TROWBRIDGE type 1 diabetes sufferer Cerys-Anne Donkin won a Child of Courage award at a fundraiser for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in Bournemouth last Saturday. The annual event, called Pop4Diabetes, was started by Iris Board in 2007 after her son was diagnosed with the illness, and this year’s fundraiser took place at Bournemouth Highcliff Marriott Hotel. Cerys-Anne, 11, was one of five children who were presented with Child of Courage awards at the charity dinner, after the judges recognised her work raising awareness about type 1 diabetes. The St Laurence School pupil also created a website – www.theinsulingang.co.uk – which provides a forum for children with the condition to share their experiences.
