A NEW Westbury antique repair shop was broken into during the early hours of Sunday, with the offenders getting away with £50 and several antiques.

The shop, which opened in Maristow Street on September 1, is owned by John Fryer and was set up following his retirement for dealing in antique watches and jewellery, and repair work.

But the front door was kicked in at about 4am on Sunday, before the offenders emptied the cash register and stole 11 watches, a brass trumpet and a barometer.

Manager Jenny Leverington said: “It was an absolute shock as we are a small business and all we do is collect and repair antiques. The only value of many of our items is a sentimental one.”

Anyone with information should call the police 101 number.
