Art students popped up with innovative works for an exhibition, after being given a massive donation of bubble wrap.
When art and design students at Wiltshire College’s Trowbridge campus got 150 metres of the material from Corsham’s Manuli Packaging UK in September, tutors decided to use it for a competition.
The winners were announced last week and work created included pictures, clothing and books.
Art and design lecturer Helen Chivers said: “All the students have done a fantastic job and we are all very proud of them. Choosing the winners was difficult and it was a very close call.”
The winners included Rosina Brewer, 18, who made bubble wrap wallpaper, Mark Burch, 17, who produced bubble wrap artwork, and Caitlin Stanley, 17, who used the material to fashion a dress.
Every winner got a £60 voucher for art supplies shop Artway in Corsham.
Mark, who lives in Trowbridge, said: “I never thought I would win anything, so it’s a real confidence booster.
“I don’t know what to do with the voucher; perhaps I could share it with the guys in my class.”
Bruce Martin, Manuli Packaging’s marketing manager, said he was impressed with the entries.
“I didn’t know what to expect when we dropped the bubble wrap off.
“Bubble wrap is generally used out of necessity, so it is nice to see it used in an innovative way to create beautiful pieces.”
Some of the art will go on display at the company’s office in Leafield Way.
