Trowbridge Arts Festival got into full swing with a range of cultural performances at the weekend.

The annual event, now in its second year, has seen a diverse mix of comedy, music and theatre performances taking place at venues across the town.

The festivities kicked off on Friday with an open folk event at Leykers Coffee Central, in White Hart Yard.

Over the weekend, festival patrons could try their hand at bell ringing at St James’ Church and violin workshops, led by musician Ruthie Behan, at Wiltshire Rural Music School, in Gloucester Road.

Andrew Bryant, festival director, said: “There really is something for everyone this year.

“Once again we have ensured that the majority of our events are free of charge and that our county town has access to both major name artists and top quality local talent.

“We have been thrilled by the public’s response and we are already starting to put plans together for next year’s festival.”

The festival is running until Sunday, November 3 and comedian Stephen K Amos will be helping bring this year’s event to a close when he headlines a comedy evening at Trowbridge Civic Centre, at 8pm on Saturday, November 2.

Tomorrow at noon, razzle dazzle will come to The Shires Shopping Centre when TAOS Musical Theatre performs songs from musicals such as Guys and Dolls and West End Wow!, together with a foretaste of their November show, Through the Looking Glass.

Trowbridge Players will be performing Plays and a Pudding at the Arc Theatre at 7.30pm on Monday.
