More than 400 people have already had their say on the consultation into the three options for a community campus for Westbury, according to an update given to Westbury Area Board last week.
Since launching the second consultation at the area board in August, the Shadow Community Operations Board has received 412 completed questionnaires, compared to the 500 received in the whole of the first round of the process.
The second consultation, available from The Laverton, Westbury Library, White Horse Health Centre and several other locations, gives people the opportunity to vote for either a one, two or three site campus.
Wiltshire Council put forward the idea of campuses as a keystone for the future development in its 20 community areas in order to provide a range of flexible services in the most suitable place.
Shadow COB member Mike Parker told the area board last Thursday: “We have already recorded well over 400 responses to the questionnaire.
“We are undoubtedly going to get a better response from the public compared to the last consultation and we are putting out a significant number of questionnaires.
“We’ll also be out in force on November 23 when the Christmas lights are switched on and I believe by the end of the process we will have secured a significant portion of the Westbury population.”
Mr Parker also addressed concerns at the meeting that that there is nothing to stop multiple responses to the consultation, with participants only asked for their postcode.
He said: “People kept asking why we needed so much information about them in the first round, so we simplified it. We will do our best to make sure there is no skewing of the results.”
Westbury councillor and area board member David Jenkins said: “It’s crucial that people recognise how important this is.We need the input of the whole community.”
The closing date for the second round is November 29.
