Alzheimer's Support is seeking memory awareness volunteers to be based at GP surgeries to help to explain what memory loss is and what symptoms might need more investigation.
The campaign, funded by Comic Relief, follows a survey which showed people in Wiltshire waited around 16 months before going to the doctor with memory worries.
Volunteer Frances Lythell, a retired civil servant, is at Giffords surgery in Melk-sham every other Wednes-day and Thursday and will be at the Bradford on Avon Health Centre every other Monday from November 4.
She said: “We explain the benefits of a diagnosis and which symptoms should be checked out.”
Training and support is given and travel expenses are paid. Call 01225 776481 to sign up.
