This year the Wiltshire West Cubs chess tournament had a different format, with an individual instead of a team competition which proved very popular.
The tournament was held at Melksham Scout HQ and ran throughout the day with 17 Cubs taking part from six packs across the district.
They played eight games each and all the Cubs gained their hobbies activity badge.
At the end of the day the District Shield was won by 1st Trowbridge Cub Fraser Middleton. Second was Jacque Horton from Warminster Cubs and in third place Max Jackson from Mere Cubs. The winner received a trophy and all participants received a certificate.
The event was organised by Chris Broom, ADC Cub Scouts, and the day was once again a great success.
