Projects put forward by the local Community Area Transport Group to encourage safety and reduce speeding were given the go ahead by Westbury Area Board last Thursday.
The board agreed to spend £4,000 on transport projects, which included £800 for the installation of a white gate at the entrance to Bratton on the B3098, aimed at reducing the speed of motorists entering the village.
Councillors also agreed to pay for new warning signs near the entrance to the junction to Wellhead Drove on the A350 at Westbury, with £200 to be spent on cutting back the overhanging vegetation and improved signs.
Other proposals agreed included £1,000 to be spent on installing horse gates near Wellhead Woods and a commitment of £2,000 to fund a review on whether the 30mph speed limit at Edington could be extended.
