Warminster Town Council will press for more parking enforcement in the town, after agreeing at a meeting of the town development committee that there was a growing problem with illegal parking.
The council has received several complaints from the public, who felt that there was no sign of visible enforcement and there needed to be more active ‘policing’ to deal with the issue.
Notable areas that had been identified were The Avenue, outside the Avenue Surgery, where many vehicles parked on the unmarked stretch of road rather than using the pay-and-display car parks.
Other areas included East Street and the Market Place.
Councillor Andrew Davis proposed that the council should write to Wiltshire Council’s Parking Services to request more enforcement, with the members voting unanimously in favour.
