Families had lots of fun during Trowbridge Apple Festival on Saturday.

The annual event, now in its second year, prompted hundreds of people to visit Courtfield House in Polebarn Road.

Attractions included apple tasting, a performance by Bathampton Morris Men, a raffle and a chance for visitors to press their own apples.

The event was organised by the town museum, Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and the Big Community Grow.

Mel Jacob, the Big Community Grow project leader, said: “It has been fantastic to see so many people turn up and everybody seems to have had a lot of fun.”

Trowbridge deputy mayor Clive Blackmore showed his support to the event and got involved with the morris group’s performance.

He said: “The day has been very good and it has been great to learn so much about apples and have a bit of fun.

“I was nice to get involved with the Morris Men, but I’m not much of a dancer so I doubt they’ll be signing me up any time soon.”

Other highlights of the event included archery workshops, conkers matches, a cider stall and an apple pie making competition, which was won by five-year-old Abigail Jacob.

Visitors also had the opportunity to meet some of the animals from Larkrise Community Farm.

Mrs Jacob said: “We really want to establish the festival as an annual event for the town and, as well as welcoming families, we are really chuffed to have welcomed so many adults, as we think we offered something for everyone.”
