Organisers of a market held at Westbury Leigh Community Hall on the first Wednesday of each month will consider its future at the end of the year.
The market, which runs from 10am-12 noon and includes goods ranging from fruit and vegetables to handmade cards and bric-a-brac, is at risk of closing due to a lack of customers.
Despite an appeal in the Wiltshire Times last month, the market at the start of October only saw a slight increase in trade, but organisers hope there will be a rise in numbers at the final two markets before Christmas, to be held on November 6 and December 4.
Stallholders donate part of their takings to the upkeep of the hall, which enables the hall to offer reasonable hire charges.
Beryl Drake, committee member for the community hall, said: “I would say there was a slight increase in numbers of people at the October market and people mentioned they had seen the article in the paper.
“It is a case of use it or lose it. We will monitor how the last couple of markets go and consider whether we continue going in 2014.
“While it would be a big shame for all those who do come if we were to finish the market, there’s not much we can do if not enough people show up.
“It is demoralising for the traders when they have to repack most of their stuff. With Christmas coming, hopefully the town and the surrounding villages will show their support.”
