Police now believe the man killed in a fatal Trowbridge traffic collision on Friday morning murdered a man in Dorset hours earlier.

A man driving a silver Toyota Yaris died following a head-on crash with a lorry between Hagg Hill and Stoney Gutter at 6.20am.

He is still yet to be identified but through Wiltshire Police’s investigations on Friday they asked Dorset Police to visit a property in Gloucester Road, Boscombe, near Bournemouth, where the body of car wash owner Ibrahim Yousef, 42, was found.

A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “We can now confirm that we have forensic evidence linking the murder victim and the driver to the murder and we are not looking for anyone else.”

Dorset Police will be continuing to help the Bournemouth coroner Sheriff Payne with investigations into the circumstances of both men’s deaths.

An inquest into Mr Yousef’s death was opened and adjourned this morning.

Mr Payne said Mr Yousef, from Iraq, was viciously beaten and stabbed twice. The inquest into his death is scheduled to take place on December 9 – pending the outcome of Dorset Police’s investigation.

An inquest into the Yaris driver’s death will open when his identity has been confirmed.

Detective Inspector Marcus Hester, of the Dorset Police Major Crime Team, said: “The details of the deceased from the road traffic collision are currently unknown and we are attempting to identify the driver and contact the next of kin.”
