The Bradford on Avon branch of Sainsbury’s is joining the fight against breast cancer by donating cakes for the Wiltshire Times Breast Cancer Awareness Month special edition this Friday.

Warminster's Waitrose store has already donated 50 cakes to the fundraising effort and now Sainsbury's has offered 50 iced ring-donuts with pink sprinkles.

These will be placed in the reception of our Duke Street offices in Trowbridge to tempt visitors into making a donation to the appeal.

Richard Clarke, spokesman for the Sainsbury's Bradford on Avon store, said: “We are donating the cakes because we have got big connections with Dorothy House Hospice and are very much involved with organisations helping to combat cancer, so we see this as an extension of that.

“It is something that affects a large amount of the population. We are behind the fight against cancer.

“Colleagues are active in marking and helping with cancer-related charities. They have been involved with a number of fundraising activities including Walk for Life and are supported by fellow colleagues within the store.”

As well as the Duke Street offices, collection tins will be placed at Waitrose Warminster, Waitrose Melksham, the Co-Op, Westbury, Paxcroft News, Trowbridge and Trowbridge Lodge petrol station.

The Wiltshire Times will be donating 2p from every copy of Friday's special edition and 10 per cent from supplement revenue to the cause.
