Dr Brian Mathew has been selected as the Liberal Democrats' prospective parliamentary candidate for north Wiltshire standing at the general election expected to take place in 2015.
Dr Mathew, who lives in Yatton Keynell, was the winner of a party vote held in Chippenham on Friday evening beating Wiltshire Councillor Simon Killane.
“I am very honoured to be selected by the North Wiltshire Liberal Democrats as their parliamentary candidate,” he said.
“The campaign is starting immediately, to take on and defeat James Gray MP.”
Dr Mathew stood at the last general election standing for north Somerset seat losing to Dr Liam Fox, of the Conservative Party.
