Tennis enthusiasts now have two courts to play on in Holt, after a second was officially opened on Monday, 18 months after construction started. Holt Sports and Recreation Committee got grants of £2,000 from Cereal Partners, £5,000 from Wiltshire Area Board, £3,500 from Hills landfill tax and £4,800 from Grass Roots Funding, for Court Two.
The rest came from fundraising, including an Auction of Promises, which made £5,000. Meg Slade, a committee member and project manager, said: “I would like to convey my sincere thanks to all who have supported me through this difficult time.
“The project took longer than expected, because the initial contractors didn’t build the court according to specifi- cations. Courtstall Services came to our aid and repaired Court Two, to make it playable. We are absolutely delighted to now have two lovely sports courts, with flood lighting.”
* Courts booking are at Holt Superstore.
