Shoppers queued up early for the opening of national supermarket chain Aldi’s new store in Westbury, with many hoping to take advantage of the opening day offers.
Scores of residents visited the new store, built on the site of the derelict pub the Old Oak Inn, in Warminster Road, on Thursday.
Vanessa Safe, from Warminster, said: “It’s a very nice store and it had everything that I needed, which was good. The staff are very friendly and there is a lot of choice.
“I think it will be a good benefit to the area as there is not really anywhere that competes when it comes to prices and people are after a better value shop.”
The opening of the new Westbury store created several new jobs, while also increasing Aldi’s portfolio in the west of Wiltshire, adding to its existing stores in Trowbridge and Melksham.
Store manager Paul Evans said: “There was a fantastic buzz down at the store on Thursday and it was great to see so many people down here for our opening event.
“My team and I were pleased to introduce shoppers to Aldi’s extensive range of products and I look forward to welcoming even more customers to our new store over the coming months.”
The store will be open from 8am to 9pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sundays and includes 83 car parking spaces.
