Wiltshire Council wants people to share memories, historical photos and stories of Westbury Swimming Pool in preparation for a 125th anniversary exhibition.
Westbury is one of the country’s oldest surviving public pools and the council, with Westbury Town Council and DC Leisure, is planning a weekend of celebration on September 7 and 8.
The baths, built by West-bury Mill owner WH Laver-ton to mark Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee, opened in 1888. The display, at Laverton Hall from the Saturday, will be on show for two weeks.
Cabinet member for leisure Jonathon Seed said: “The weekend will offer people the opportunity to re-live history and swim for a penny, which is what it cost when it first opened.
“To create a display of memories, we are asking residents to send us their stories and photos so everyone can see the pool through the ages.”
Call the council by August 16 on 01225 713152 or email events@wiltshire.gov.uk.
