A carer from Warminster who invented a flexible clip to provide instant medical details for elderly people with memory loss is hoping it will also help identify lost scooters this summer.

Adeline Dalley, who was a senior carer at Westbury Court Care Home, created Mediclipz after becoming frustrated with the untidy sticky labels used to identify mobility aids.

The clips, which are patent pending, provide vital information for emergency services and are clipped. They can also attach to the pole of most modern scooters.

In that case they can also carry the contact numbers for the scooter owners’ parents.

The 32-year-old, who now works at Rossetti House Care Home in Frome, hopes the ID tag will become the instantly recognisable standard marking for scooters.

Mrs Dalley, who lives with her husband and three daughters, said: “It is a very simple idea, but one that could stop the misery of lost scooters for many families.

“In addition to straight forward theft, by the nature of being a child, quite often scooters are discarded during play and picked up by another child mistaking it for their own.

“The clips make sure the scooters are instantly recognisable and parents can also add any medical conditions their child may have, so that they are covered in case of an emergency.”

The waterproof tags cost £9, with £1 of the price being donated to Alzheimer’s Support in Trowbridge, and are available from www.adzcreations.com or by calling 07938 356045.
