Two-year-old Tyler Holdaway had a ‘miracle’ escape after falling from his first floor bedroom window.
He fell 14 feet from his house in Coronation Road, Melksham on July 21, but was discharged after a night at the RUH Bath with only minor cuts and bruises.
Dad Ashley Holdaway, 24, said: “I put Tyler to bed and was running a bath. I could hear him talking and it seemed too clear for him to be in his bedroom.
“I quickly ran into his room and he was nowhere to be seen. He was just hanging out the window ledge and I couldn’t get there in time.
“I wouldn’t wish what I saw on anyone; it scared the hell out of me.”
Fortunately for the toddler, the ground floor window below him was open, breaking his fall and angling him towards the soft grass of the front lawn.
Mr Holdaway, a production operative at Herman Miller in Chippenham, said: “I shouted to my partner Carla, and instantly ran outside.
“She got down there before me, but from what I remember he was lying below, with blood coming from his face, but it turned out that was just where he had bit his lip on the way down.”
Mum Carla Nyman, 22, said: “It’s a miracle he’s okay. He had some scratches, but no major injuries or broken bones.”
Mr Holdaway said: “He was too scared to sleep in his bed again at first, but he’s back to his usual mischievous self now.
“It was his birthday on Saturday and we had a bouncy castle in the garden, so he’s back to normal now.”
Steven Webster, from Selwood Housing, which manages the property, said: “We have begun a thorough investigation into the circumstances around the accident.
“We take window safety very seriously and have a detailed policy which covers window opening restriction devices.
“Window restrictors are offered free of charge to all our tenants when they sign up to receive their house, and we remind our tenants twice a year that they are available.”
