Matthew Buswell, the man who sparked a major armed police incident in Melksham in June, has been given a two-year conditional discharge.
The 32-year-old, of Berryfield Park in the town, appeared before magistrates in Chippenham last Thursday on a charge of possessing a firearm and ammunition for it.
He was arrested on June 4, after neighbours saw him firing BB pellets indiscriminately on the estate.
The street was cordoned off for more than an hour as officers searched Buswell’s home, where a selection of BB guns and ammunition were recovered.
