The fundraising team at St Laurence School, Bradford on Avon, held an all-night Badminton evening after the school chose Breakthrough Trowbridge as their charity of the year.
The evening was supported by teachers Dan Thorne and Tom Bouquet and many sporting students who played all night long.
The fundraising team, Ben Huxtable, Connor Evans, James Kiernan, Louise Wilde, Aimy Inglis, Oscar Davis and Ben Clarkson, have also run an Easter egg raffle and cake sale, raising just over £1,060 in a few months.
They are pictured presenting the cheque to Liz Bateman, founder of Breakthrough, who said: “Your work has made a difference to people in real poverty. We are grateful for the outward expression of your compassion that drove you on to such outstanding achievements. It shows great leadership qualities to be willing to put stuff on for your peers to enjoy.”
Charity co-founder Michael Bateman added: “You are a great credit to the school and to the community. Keep on caring, even when you are rising to the top, keep remembering others.”
