Despite the recent hot weather, Age UK Wiltshire is calling on people to knit woolly hats.
The charity is again linking up with the smoothie company, Innocent, to put woolly hats on Innocent smoothie drinks bottles sold in shops during November.
For each drink sold Age UK Wiltshire will receive 25p to help fund winter warmth projects and it has been tasked with providing 29,250 hats by September.
Allison Davis, of Age UK Wiltshire, said: “We want to involve as many local people as possible in this year’s effort to knit 29,250 hats. The donation we receive for every smoothie bottle sold will enagle Age UK Wiltshire to fund vital projects aimed at keeping people in later life warm and healthy this winter.”
Knitters can contact Age UK Wiltshire for a simple hat pattern. Knitting needles and wool can also be donated to Age UK shops in Chippenham, Westbury, Trowbridge and Warminster to enable others to knit.
For information contact Age UK Wiltshire on 01380 727767. Completed hats can ben sent to Age UK Wiltshire, Cromwell House, 31 Market Place, Devizes, SN10 1JG or to any of the Age UK charity shops.
