An Ofsted team has completed its inspection of Wiltshire Council’s child protection services.

A team of four inspectors assessed the council for two weeks and the results are expected to be announced next month.

In March 2012, an Ofsted inspection found that the council’s overall effectiveness in safeguarding children and young people was inadequate.

To tackle the problems, Wiltshire Council ran a scrutiny group which found 41 improvements that could be made to the safeguarding service.

Jane Scott, leader of Wiltshire Council, said: “We must always be continuing to improve the safeguarding services.

“We need to aspire to get better and better as this is something which is very important to this organisation.”
