The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s baby boy was born at 4.24pm yesterday at St Mary's Hospital, in Paddington, London.
Millions of people across the world eagerly awaited the birth of the child who is third in line to the throne.
Councillor Scott intends to send a letter to Prince William and his wife Kate congratulating them.
She said: “On behalf of Wiltshire Council I would like to extend congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of their baby boy and future king.
"We look forward to finding out the name and we will be writing with our congratulations and warmest wishes.”
