A Warminster man will have to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work and pay back more than £5,000, after pleading guilty to benefit fraud.
Darren Eglin, 34, of Swaledale Road, Warminster, pleaded guilty to failing to declare to Wiltshire Council that his partner has started employment and he had changed employers twice.
He was sentenced to a community order of 120 hours of unpaid work at Chippenham Magistrates Court.
Wiltshire Council obtained information to support Mr Eglin’s change in circumstances, which resulted in an overpayment of housing benefit of £4415.48 and council tax benefit of £935.86, a total loss of public funds of £5351.34. These debts will have to be repaid in full.
