Young people will be able to swim for free this summer as Wiltshire Council's pledge to fund free swimming during school holidays continues.

Children aged up to 16 can enjoy free swimming during all public swimming sessions at their local Wiltshire Council and DC Leisure managed leisure centres, and at Calne Leisure centre and Cricklade Leisure Centre.

The free sessions run from July 25 to August 30. Last year more than 58,800 free sessions were taken during the summer. As the sessions are very popular, people are advised to arrive in plenty of time.

Cabinet member for leisure, Jonathon Seed, said: "We hope as many children as possible take up this opportunity and enjoy free swimming this summer as part of their holiday activities.

"This is part of our Legacy for Wiltshire, which aims to encourage people to keep active and healthy, so offering free swimming provides an added incentive to exercise while having fun."

Those under 16 will be able to gain free access to all public swimming sessions during the Wiltshire Council recognised school holidays, however each leisure centre will retain the right to request proof of age before granting entry. Please contact your local pool for further details relating to this offer.
