Organisers of the Village Pump Folk Festival are delighted that about 1,800 tickets have already been snapped up for next weekend’s event.
Headliners – on a bill of more than 50 acts – will include iconic Scottish band The Proclaimers, folk rocker Steeleye Span and singer-songwriter Steve Knightley.
They will perform under the gaze of the Westbury White Horse in White Horse Country Park, between Friday and Sun-day, July 26 to 28.
John Alderslade, director of the festival, which was founded in 1974, said: “Preparations are going very well and we are delighted with the phenomenal ticket sales and are told that the weather is going to be good.”
The festival did not take place in 2011, because of organisational problems, but it returned last year, moving from its former home at Stowford Manor Farm to a new site in Westbury.
Mr Alderslade said: “We are delighted with the new site. It is rather magical and we have visitors coming from all over the world who like the idea of seeing the White Horse.
“We are hoping to build on the success of last year and establish ourselves at our new home.”
Mr Alderslade praised the efforts of his board members and team of organisers, who have been putting the finishing touches to this year’s event.
The site will have two stages, a club tent, stalls, a bar and refreshment areas.
