Warminster Town Council’s finance and assets committee supported grant applications made by a wide representation of the local community at a recent meeting.
Councillors supported applications from Carers Support for £750, the White Horse Stroke Club for £500, the Fibromyalgia Support Group for £1,000 and the Wessex MS Therapy Centre for £2,000.
Support was also given to those groups who work hard to keep the community engaged in physical activities, such as Highbury Youth FC and Warminster Cycle Group, or artistic endeavours, such as Warminster Philharmonic Orchestra and the new Warminster Community Choir.
It was not possible for the council to agree to all applications, but there is a further opportunity for new sports organisations to apply to the Olympic Legacy Fund for a grant.
Applications for this fund are considered bi-monthly at finance and assets meetings and forms are available to be downloaded online or can be obtained from the Civic Centre.
