Pupils at St Laurence School in Bradford on Avon have settled into their new maths building after its official opening.
The £750,000 building, named Moulton after the late Dr Alex Moulton, was opened by the bicycle inventor’s nephew, Shaun Moulton.
Mr Moulton, who was joined by headteacher Fergus Stewart and maths teachers, said: “He [Alex] would have said it is essential for the future of the country that we teach young people the fundamentals of mathematics.
“It is mathematics that underpins engineering and engineering and science under- pins everything else.”
The building is designed to save energy. Its roof can provide insulation and has photovoltaic panels to generate electricity.
