Eight teams from Wiltshire West Scouts took part in the eliminating rounds of the go kart competition held at the new District Jubilee campsite.
The weather was kind, the venue excellent and the Scouts were raring to go.
A 300-metre course was marked out along with a 100-metre sprint course.
There were some very impressive karts taking part, all made by the Scouts with, of course, a little help from some ‘Scouts at heart’ dads.
Two teams at a time, each consisting of three Scouts – two pushers and one at the steering wheel – raced against the clock and after a few minor incidents there were three overall winners who will now represent the district at the County Go Karting Competition at the Wiltshire Scout Centre, Potterne, on Sunday.
The Scout Teams going forward are:
Cubs: Harriers, Hilperton; Funky Funks, Mere; Moonraker 2, Warminster.
Scouts: HEJ, Hilperton; Fox’s Favourites, Mere; Warminster Wonders, Warminster.
The event was organised by ADC Scouts Brian Fitchett, ably assisted by ADC Cubs Chris Broom and District Explorer Scout Commissioner Stuart Bath. The Scouts showed great skill, determination and humour throughout the event. Good luck to teams taking part in the county event.
