A man who acted as the look out during a break-in at a house has been remanded in custody by a judge.

Ricky Elliot, of Hurricane Road, Melksham, pleaded guilty to a charge of burglary when he appeared at Swindon Crown Court on Friday.

The 21-year-old was in a gang of three who raided the property in Spa Road, Melksham, on Friday February 1.

He said he was put under pressure to take part in the offence where an Apple Mac Probook, digital camera and a brown Mulberry purse and contents were taken.

Mark Ashley, defending, told the court: "There were two others. They went into the property.

"Mr Elliot said he had been threatened by one of the others but it fell short of duress. He has a record for dishonesty but this is his first burglary."

Judge Douglas Field adjourned the case to Monday July 22 to give the probation service time to compile a pre-sentence report.

He remanded Elliot in custody until then.
